Ted Mallett

Vice-President and Chief Economist

Ted Mallett is responsible for CFIB’s policy research information gathering and membership survey activities. His experience covers a wide range of policy issues including: tax policy, local government, the environment, banking and telecommunications.

CFIB bases its policy positions on the opinions of its 100,000 small and medium-sized business members. Research and surveys, therefore, represent an extensive part of the Federation’s activities. Approximately 2,000 businesses are surveyed each week by CFIB representatives. The data gathered form the basis to CFIB’s research studies, reports and submissions to government on small business issues.

Mr. Mallett joined the Federation in 1988. Before joining CFIB, he was with Woods Gordon management consultants (now Ernst and Young) in their Marketing and Economics Group, specializing in industrial economic analyses and forecasting.

Mr. Mallett graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1982 with a BA in Economics. He obtained a Masters degree in Economics in 1986 from the University of Toronto.
