Occupational Health and Safety

Every business owner wants employees to feel they are working in a safe environment – this is common sense. But it also makes good business sense to ensure that you are operating as safely as possible. Focusing on safety is one way to minimize liability and risk within your business – and that translates into a healthy bottom line.

CFIB Business Resources can help you meet your obligations under the Health and Safety Act for Alberta with word templates of policies, forms and processes - just a phone call away at 888-234-2232, and we can also assist those who are federally regulated.

All provincially regulated employers can access provincial resources through WorkSafe Alberta.  For use at your health and safety meetings, this is a link to the short videos on safety the Ministry has produced available on YouTube WorkSafe videos.

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) lists each province and territories Occupational Health and Safety Offices, which outline a company’s responsibility and requirements in the workplace:

  • Training Requirements (WHMIS), lifting, climbing, etc
  • Safety Precautions - operating machinery, tools , etc
  • Safety Committee, representatives
  • Health and Safety Policies, etc.
