Introduction

Despite some of the uncertainty in the global economy over the past year, Saskatchewan’s small- and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) commitment to charitable giving remains resilient.

The overwhelming majority of SMEs in Saskatchewan give back to their communities through donations of time and money. Approximately 83 per cent of small business owners say they provide cash donations to charitable and community causes, while almost 70 per cent give in-kind donations. More than half of SMEs donate their own time and 54 per cent advertise or promote on behalf of a particular event or cause. These are just some of the findings contained in this report based on survey results from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business 2009 Focus on Saskatchewan survey.
