At CFIB, we know that you want to earn a living from the marketplace. But farmers face unique challenges like weather, disease, and border closures. That’s why when farmers do need government business risk managements programs, they have to work.
In the past, business risk management programs have been time consuming, difficult to understand, costly to participate in and offered inadequate payments. We’re pushing for something better: programs that are transparent, accessible, predictable and timely.
CFIB’s report, AgriStability or Aggravation, outlines your serious concerns and frustrations with AgriStability. Agriculture ministers have been reviewing business risk management programs since July 2008 and you have said it is time for action. Governments need to make some immediate changes to AgriStability and address the competitive challenges in the agriculture sector.
