242 - 2011 Ontario election - Making your voice count!

With months to go before the next provincial election (October 6, 2011), you recently told us that provincial policies are making it harder for you to run your business. Aside from energy costs and the HST, you also pointed to hikes in payroll taxes (WSIB) and the minimum wage as having had the biggest impact. Accordingly, you asked CFIB to convey to the politicians the issues that will be most important to how you cast your ballot in October.

In recent months we have begun to meet with the major political parties to do just that. In particular, we have pressed each party to commit to measures that will:

  • Reduce job-killing payroll taxes
  • Balance the province's finances by eliminating waste in government
  • Reduce the crushing "red tape" burden on small businesses
  • Rein in the out of control WSIB

With another budget expected prior to the election, we are also working away on your behalf to make sure that the end-of-March document contains these and other measures to support your business. We invite you check back regularly for updates on what CFIB is doing to make your voice count: www.cfib.ca/on
