Nova Scotia Announces “Better Business” plan to reduce red tape

To follow-up on Nova Scotia's five-year "Better Regulation" Initiative, the government of Nova Scotia announced its "Better Business" plan in its attempts to reduce red tape. The goals of "Better Business" are to:

  • Improve the business environment sector by sector
  • Identify high-impact opportunities to identify "pain points" for business
  • Resolve issues with the simplest and most effective solutions, avoiding unnecessary red tape

"Red tape is a huge issue for small business," said Leanne Hachey, vice-president Atlantic for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. "We're hopeful Better Business will not only eliminate unnecessary 'irritants' and streamline cumbersome processes for business, but will help government find efficiencies, too."

Better Business commits to measure progress and to keep the total regulatory burden from growing. We will be working closely with government to make sure these commitments are kept.
