Confidence among Alberta’s entrepreneurs slips

According to the Business Barometer data, confidence among entrepreneurs in Alberta slipped slightly in April amid rising concern about labour shortages. Despite the 1.3 point drop to 73.3, Alberta’s small business confidence remained the highest in the country and almost seven points above the national index.

In spite of the modest fluctuations, Alberta’s confidence index remains the highest in the country, almost 12 points above the national level.

According to the results of the latest monthly Business Barometer® index, confidence among Alberta's small business owners remained stable in August at 75.0, but nationally dropped 6.6 points to 61.7, the lowest level since July 2009. As a result, Alberta small business owners are now easily the most optimistic in Canada, with confidence levels exceeding the national average by a significant margin.
