PEI business confidence on the rise in April

Island business owners were a little more optimistic in April, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). PEI’s Business Barometer® Index rose to 62.2 last month, up from 57.9 in March.

Bucking the national trend, small business optimism continues to slide in Prince Edward Island. According to CFIB’s Business Barometer® Index Prince Edward Island’s small business confidence fell to 53.0 in February. Meanwhile, the national index rose to 66.0 – its sixth-consecutive monthly increase.

Confidence among PEI businesses dropped again slightly in January, according to the latest survey data from the CFIB. PEI's Business Barometer Index was 57.8, a two point drop from last month and well below the national average of 65.2.
