Regulations are an essential tool used by governments to carry out economic and social policy from which businesses and citizens benefit. While some regulation is needed, too often federal and provincial governments impose excess regulation that is not only unnecessary, but is also harmful to businesses. Government-imposed regulation reduces productivity and limits innovation, with SMEs bearing a disproportionately high amount of the burden.

CRA Report Card reveals that small businesses fear dealing with the taxman

The fourth edition of a landmark series of CFIB reports on small business views of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) shows that small businesses feel intimidated when they interact with the Agency and that CRA does not really understand the realities of small business owners. Overall, despite some positive developments over the past three years, small businesses give the Agency a rating of C-.
