Small business confidence dips in April

Canada’s small and mid-sized businesses were a little less optimistic in April compared with the month before. The 1.3-point drop in CFIB’s Business Barometer® Index to 66.4 gave back most of the big gains we had seen in the March survey findings.

Rise in small business confidence shows stable & growing economy

With its 7th consecutive monthly gain since late last summer, small business sentiment has now returned to what can be considered normal for a sustainably growing economy. CFIB's Business Barometer® Index climbed to 67.7 in March, more than a point and a half above February's level.

Small business optimism continues to show signs of improvement

Small businesses saw a little more sunshine in February. CFIB’s Business Barometer Index rose to 66.0 in its latest reading—its sixth-consecutive monthly increase. The Index, however, still has a few points to make up before re-establishing the high 60s levels we had seen this time last year.
