Manitoba’s Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) ranks 9th of 10 provinces for small business customer service in CFIB’s new Small Business Workers’ Compensation Index, scoring of 1.8 out of 10. CFIB recently met with Krista Breckman, Director of Customer Service for Manitoba WCB to outline your priorities to improve customer service:
- Develop an Employer Fairness Code;
- Train front-line staff to ensure knowledge of small business;
- Improve appeals process by creating an Employer Advocate and publishing appeals statistics; and
- Review Fair Practices Advocate mandate.
CFIB will continue to push the WCB to change rates, practices and policies to reflect the needs of Manitoba’s small businesses in all areas of WCB operations.
