Owning a small business in Quebec comes with enough challenges, and rising fuel costs shouldn’t be one of them. Even though the federal carbon tax has been eliminated, Quebec continues to charge a carbon fee through its provincial carbon exchange. In 2025, that’s adding 7 to 25 cents per litre at the gas pump, and by 2030, it could climb as high as 35 cents. For businesses that depend on fuel daily, these costs are more than just numbers, they directly impact profitability and sustainability.
Here’s the frustrating part: Quebec has collected about $3 billion through this carbon market, but most of it isn’t going back to small businesses. We’ve heard from several of our members and small business owners who are struggling with these rising expenses, and as a result, we’re taking action to make sure their voices are heard. Sign out petition today to help stop Quebec’s hidden carbon tax.
We’re stepping up by asking for signatures on our petition . We’re advocating directly to the Quebec government on behalf of small business owners, and calling for a fair system that works for everyone. We’re asking them to either get rid of the carbon exchange entirely or make sure the money is returned to Quebecers and small businesses through direct, transparent rebates.
Small business owners want to do their part to fight climate change, but the system shouldn’t punish them for it. With the support of entrepreneurs, we can push for policies that help small businesses survive, thrive, and continue to contribute to a greener Quebec.
