  • Pushing your priorities with WorkSafeBC: time for a rebate

We continue to contact, meet with, and present your priorities to senior staff at WorkSafeBC. Most importantly, we urge them to reduce workers’ compensation premiums and refund overfunded assets back to you!

WorkSafeBC collects our premiums to invest, so that injured workers can receive compensation while they recover. It goes without saying that that’s important. However, our research shows that the agency was over-funded by $4.5 billion of your money in 2015.

We’re urging them to reduce workers’ compensation premiums and refund overfunded assets back to you!

WorkSafeBC making its website more business-friendly

We’ve previously recommended that WorkSafeBC do the following:

  • Offer a refund and reduce premiums;
  • Ensure that new or updated regulations, like occupational health and safety, or anti-bullying and harassment, are designed with small businesses in mind; and
  • Ensure auditors and front-line staff are trained to work cooperatively with small business owners.

We’re pleased that the agency has taken our advice, and is working to make their website small business friendly. WorkSafeBC’s updated website now includes an area with the top issues small businesses need to know about.
