Vice-President and Chief Economist
Ted Mallett is responsible for CFIB's economics file. With direct access to the perspectives of 110,000 business owners across Canada, Mr. Mallett assembles and publishes information about their business activities in a way that is not possible from traditional sources of economics data. Among the widely followed projects he has created and overseen are CFIB's Business Barometer®, a monthly tracking of national, provincial and sectoral business conditions; Help Wanted, a quarterly measure of job vacancies; Communities in Boom, a ranking of entrepreneurial activities within Canada's cities. Ted is a member of the Minister of Finance’s panel of economic forecasters and on the expert advisory panel of the Labour Market Information Council. At CFIB since 1988 Ted is a frequent commentator in the national media on small business and economics issues.
