Media Advisory: Alberta Throne Speech: Small Business Perspective | CFIB

Written by Admin | Feb 25, 2020 5:00:00 AM

Edmonton, February 25, 2020 – The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) is available to provide a small business perspective on Alberta’s Throne Speech today.

CFIB will be closely monitoring today’s Throne Speech with respect to policies that will help restore small business confidence and address Alberta’s economic challenges.

Recent survey results reveal that nearly all, 92 per cent, of Alberta small businesses feel that Canada is facing a serious issue with investor confidence. CFIB’s Business Barometer, which gauges small businesses owners’ confidence in the economy, pegs Alberta at an index of 37 points – the lowest in the country and well below 65 points, which CFIB considers to be a healthy and growing economy. CFIB is hoping today’s Throne Speech will begin to address these concerns Alberta small businesses have.

Annie Dormuth, Alberta Provincial Affairs Director, will be available in the rotunda of the legislature to speak to media following the Throne Speech and available for interviews.
