Regina, April 9, 2018 – Jennifer Henshaw, CFIB’s Senior Policy Analyst for the Prairie region will be presenting to the City of Prince Albert’s Executive Committee today at 4:00 pm to provide local business owners’ views regarding the importance of reducing the commercial property tax burden. She will be available for comment immediately following her presentation.
The CFIB, along with the Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce are very interested in the City’s competitiveness and its ability to attract new businesses, while also retaining and growing existing businesses.
“We were encouraged that Mayor Greg Dionne recently stated publicly that he is supportive of implementing a plan to reduce commercial property taxes,” said Jennifer Henshaw, CFIB’s Senior Policy Analyst, Prairie. “Business owners also understand that tax reform does not happen overnight. That’s why we are recommending the City develop a comprehensive, written plan, with a defined time-frame outlining when and how it would be implemented to make commercial property tax rates more competitive in the City.”
