Stop the PST tax grab on my business!

Starting October 1, 2026, a new 7% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) will be charged to these basic professional services:

Accounting and bookkeeping; Architectural services; Engineering and geoscience services; Rental property and strata management services; Commissions related to buying and selling non-residential real estate; Security and private investigation services.

This cash grab will add more than $500 MILLION in annual costs onto B.C. businesses and consumers. Your industry could be next!

Meanwhile, the B.C. government is drowning in a $13.3 BILLION deficit.

Premier David Eby

CC: Minister of Finance Brenda Bailey

Your government’s decision to expand the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) to professional services is a direct blow to entrepreneurs like me who are at their breaking point. Instead of trying to offset your government’s deficit at my expense, I need you to champion policies that support my business’ growth and contributions to the B.C. economy.

I am calling on you to:

  • Reverse course and immediately halt your plans to expand the PST to professional services.
  • Offset rising costs that government itself drives up, like payroll costs, fees, or paperwork, and provide Input Tax Credits (ITCs) on the PST my business pays.
  • STOP treating small businesses as government’s piggy bank!

Small businesses are job creators, risk-takers, and community builders. We cannot continue to absorb new taxes every time government faces fiscal pressure.

Reconsider this decision and stand with small businesses.
