Small business owners know that the public sector pension system is unfair – but it’s become increasingly clear that many public pension plans have serious structural problems and are in need of immediate reform.

Based on evidence from Statistics Canada, Public Accounts and other sources, we found the unfunded shortfall for public pension plans across the country likely exceeds $300 billion. That’s $9,000 for every man, woman and child in Canada.
