In fall 2011, two Canadian shipyards were selected to rebuild the fleets of the Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard, representing the largest procurement in Canadian history.
Irving Shipbuilding was selected for the larger contract, and is scheduled to build the combat vessel work package (21 vessels), worth $22 Billion. The work will span 20 to 30 years.
There will be significant opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SME) to provide their goods and services to the selected shipyards and other suppliers involved in building the ships.
For example, Irving Shipbuilding has established an online supplier registry, which allows suppliers through the website to tell Irving about their company and what goods and services they offer. There’s no guarantee that your application will be successful but you won’t win if you don’t play!
We have already helped members do this – and we want to do the same for you.
