Jonathan Galgay

Director, Newfoundland and Labrador

As Legislative Director for Newfoundland and Labrador, Jonathan leads the development of strategic public policy, research, advocacy, and communications initiatives to support small businesses across the province.

With over 20 years of experience in municipal governance, legislative affairs, and public policy, Jonathan brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. Prior to joining CFIB, he held senior roles within the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, including in the Department of Health and Community Services and the Department of Justice.

Jonathan’s career also includes extensive experience in municipal governance, having served as Chief Administrative Officer for the towns of Stephenville. Placentia, and Twillingate. He was also an elected Councillor for the City of St. John’s, where he chaired key committees, including Finance and Administration, Public Works, and Regional Fire Services.

Jonathan studied Political Science and Sociology at Memorial University and has served on numerous boards, such as the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL), to name a few.
