St. John’s, May 13, 2025 – The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) congratulates Premier John Hogan, KC on his appointment as the 15th Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador. As the province’s largest association representing small and medium-sized businesses, CFIB looks forward to working with Premier Hogan and his new cabinet to address the challenges facing entrepreneurs and to foster a strong, competitive business environment.
Jonathan Galgay, CFIB’s Director of Legislative Affairs for Newfoundland and Labrador, issued the following statement:
“On behalf of CFIB’s 1,700 members in Newfoundland and Labrador, I congratulate Premier John Hogan, KC on his appointment. Small businesses are the pillar of our province’s economy, and we are eager to work with Premier Hogan’s government to reduce the cost of doing business, create jobs, and ensure our communities thrive. We look forward to collaborating on policies that support local entrepreneurs, including further reducing the small business tax rate and eliminating burdensome taxes unique to our province such as the retail sales tax on insurance. We are optimistic that Premier Hogan’s leadership will bring renewed attention to the needs of the small business community. Together, we can build a more prosperous future for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.”
