Only four in 10 small business owners remain undecided as election day nears in Nova Scotia

Halifax, November 21, 2024 – According to a recent survey conducted by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), the majority (60%) of small business owners have made up their minds regarding which party has earned their vote over the course of the campaign.

In terms of election priorities for small businesses, investing in health care (80%) and reducing provincial taxes and fees (73%) topped the list of what will influence their vote. Throughout the 2024 Nova Scotia election, the Progressive Conservative, Liberal, and New Democratic Parties all committed to reducing the small business tax rate, a core request from the CFIB.

“With the major parties looking to court small business owners, it is encouraging to see a commitment to improve the tax environment. Small business owners expect whoever forms government to take quick action on this file as well as establish plans to address other concerns such as improving the Workers' Compensation System, addressing rising payroll costs, and the ongoing labour shortage,” Robertson concluded.
