Be prepared for potential tax audits

There are many things you can do to ensure that you are prepared for a potential audit—the most important is to remain calm! But we know that is easier said than done, so check out our guide on What to do when the tax auditor comes calling for 20 things to keep in mind before, when and after the auditor arrives.

In the handout, you’ll find answers to questions like:

  • What type of records should I keep and for how long?
  • Can I ask for an extension for the tax audit if I am extremely busy?
  • What should I do if I feel the tax auditor is being unreasonable or abusive?
  • What can I do if I don't agree with the auditor's decision?
