WCB launches new Employer Resource Centre

WCB launches new Employer Resource Centre

Issue: You’ve told us it’s not easy to navigate the complex WCB system and it’s hard to find the right person to talk to.

Action: That’s why we have been pushing the Saskatchewan WCB to improve its customer service and introduce an Employer Advocate Office.

We also joined a coalition to raise your concerns and urge the Board to create a dedicated and accessible Employer Advocate office within the WCB. We told the Board that across Canada there were six provincial WCB systems that already had employer advocates or advisors: British Columbia, Ontario, and all four Atlantic provinces. But Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec did not provide employer advocates or advisors.

Note: The coalition included the following associations: CFIB, North Saskatoon Business Association (NSBA), Merit Contractors Association, Saskatchewan Construction Association, Saskatchewan Heavy Construction Association, Saskatchewan Hotel & Hospitality Association. Saskatchewan Industrial & Mining Suppliers Association and Saskatchewan Trucking Association.

Result: After four years of persistent lobbying, the WCB listened to your concerns and launched the Employer Resource Centre  - which will be your point of contact to answer questions, provide support materials and connect you with the right person at the WCB.

As an employer, you may have questions about where to start when applying for WCB coverage, injury preventions, educational materials and what to do when an injury happens. You may also require additional support to understand WCB requirements, request a letter of good standing, understand how to fill out forms, pay employer premiums, or help with return to work.

We are hoping the new Centre will give you the tools you need to better navigate the WCB system.

For general inquiries:  Contact the Employer Resource Centre at 1-833-961-0042 or email at ERC@wcbsask.com

NOTE: While the Employer Resource Centre will help facilitate return to work and provide information about the Fair Practices Office and appeals process, it will not advocate on behalf of employers to resolve disputes about claims.
