Doug Bruce is the Vice-President of Research for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) in Toronto. In his role at CFIB, he is responsible for undertaking research on public policy issues affecting the small and medium-size business sector. Most notably, he has prepared various reports on tax policy, fiscal policy, labour and compensation issues, banking and finance, pension policy, business confidence levels, etc.

Prior to joining CFIB in 1998, he worked in the government relations departments at Sun Life of Canada (1995-98) and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (1988-95). His academic background includes an MA in Economics (1987) from McMaster University and a BA (Honours) in Economics (1986) from Carleton University.
