Do you sell lottery tickets? New tax rules will affect your bottom line!

Effective January 1, 2014, CRA changed its administrative position on bulletin IT-404R "Payments to Lottery Ticket Vendors", from March 31, 1981. The change indicates that any lottery retailers who are awarded a prize in relation to selling a winning lottery ticket must now declare these prizes as business income, thus making them taxable. Prior to this change, these monies were not taxed.
