JobsNL Wage Subsidy Program

It's a common catch-22 - you have enough work to hire a new employee, but not yet the cash-flow to pay them. In this situation, a wage subsidy can help bridge the gap.

To that end, the provincial government has expanded its JobsNL wage subsidy program to extend the subsidy period and to increase the level of the subsidy.

JobsNL 42
A maximum subsidy of $12 per hour for 28 weeks, paid over a period 42 weeks

  • 60% for the first 14 weeks
  • 0% for the second 14 weeks
  • 80% for the final 14 weeks

If the worker remains employed with the business for 10 weeks after the end of the subsidy (total of 52 weeks) a completion bonus will be paid to both employer ($2,000) and employee ($1,000).

JobsNL 28
A 60% subsidy to a maximum of $12 per hour towards the hourly wage, paid for 28 weeks. If the worker remains employed with the business for 10 weeks after the end of the subsidy (total of 38 weeks) a completion bonus will be paid to both employer ($2,000) and employee ($1,000).
