Praful Manek

Praful Manek was born in Kampala, Uganda in 1959, and then moved to Quebec City in 1973. Since the political situation in Uganda was not stable, his parents sent him to India to attend elementary school, where he studied from 1969-1973. From 1973 to 1977, he attended Saint Patrick’s High School in Quebec City. After high school, he moved to London, England for further studies. In 1981, at the age of 23, he bought his first business in England. In 1982, he moved back to Quebec City and in 1983 he bought Provisions Ste-Odile with his brother. After 19 years of operation, he closed his shop and moved to his present location with a selling space of more than 4000 square feet, where he is well established and one of Quebec City’s leaders in beer sales. Currently, the company stocks over 200 brands of beer from major breweries to micro breweries, which include beers from Quebec, Ontario, New-Brunswick and foreign countries such as France. Mr. Manek has been a member of the CFIB since 1984.
He has been married to Amita for nearly 28 years, and they have three children: Raj, Simal and Milly.
