This edition of Mandate Newsletter, Seeing Red?, focuses on one of your biggest irritants — Red Tape. Recently we released Prosperity Restricted by Red Tape, a research report based on questions we asked you about regulation. We found that collectively business owners spend over $30 billion a year to comply with rules and regulations from all levels of government. This is money not spent buying new equipment, expanding, or increasing employee wages.

To put additional pressure on governments to take your concerns seriously, we used our report to kickoff Canada’s first ever Red Tape Awareness Week! The week was a smashing success with coast-to-coast media coverage and many members sharing their frustrations.

Thanks to all members who helped make this a success by filling in the survey and sharing your stories. We hope you enjoy this edition!
