CFIB outlines small business pre-election priorities
St. John's, September 16, 2011 - As the October 11th provincial election approaches, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) will be closely watching as all parties release their election platforms.
According to Bradley George, Director of Provincial Affairs, CFIB has been working hard to ensure small business issues are included in party platforms, and he says he has met with all parties prior to the development of their platforms to ensure this is the case.
CFIB's small business priorities include:
- fiscal restraint;
- workers' compensation;
- reduction of the tax burden;
- paper burden and regulation;
- minimum wage; and
- shortage of labour

"We have been presenting our members' priorities on issues such as the provincial payroll tax and fiscal responsibility for much longer than this election campaign," says George. "Therefore, we are certain the government and other parties know our members' issues very well and we expect all parties to address those concerns in their platforms.
