A resident of Vancouver, Laura Jones is the Sr. Vice-President Research, Economics & Western Canada with CFIB. In this capacity she works with all levels of government to represent the interests of CFIB's small business members in British Columbia.
Prior to joining CFIB, Laura Jones worked for the Fraser Institute as the Director of Environment and Regulatory Studies. She has authored or co-authored a number of public policy studies including Canada's Regulatory Burden, Searching For Solutions: Experiments in Fisheries Management on Canada's West Coast, and Environmental Indicators. She has edited five books including Safe Enough? Managing Risk and Regulation. Ms. Jones has also published articles in The Vancouver Sun, the Ottawa Citizen, and the National Post, testified before Parliamentary and Congressional committees on proposed legislation, and co-ordinated The Fraser Institute's annual survey of mining companies.
Laura received her B.A. in Economics from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, and her M.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Laura has taught economics at Coquitlam College and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
The CFIB is a non-profit, non-partisan political action organization with a national membership of 108,000 small and medium-sized businesses, of which approximately 10,000 are located in British Columbia.
