Nova Scotia’s small business owners were a little less optimistic in April, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). Nova Scotia’s Business Barometer® Index dipped slightly to 63.0 last month, down from 64.1 in March.

Confidence among small business owners in Nova Scotia increased slightly in January, but it continues to lag the rest of Canada. CFIB's Business Barometer Index for Nova Scotia now sits at 58.2, well below the national score of 65.2. Outside of Atlantic Canada, small business confidence is on a slow climb as it returns to 'near normal' levels.

Confidence among small business owners in Nova Scotia inched up a bit in December 2011 but continues to lag the country. CFIB's Business Barometer Index for Nova Scotia sits at 55.6 up slightly from 54.9 in November 2011. Nationally, confidence now sits nearly 10 points higher at 65.0. Outside of Atlantic Canada, small business confidence is on a slow climb as it returns to ‘near normal’ levels.

Confidence among small business owners in Nova Scotia continued to fall in November. CFIB’s Business Barometer Index for Nova Scotia sits at 54.9, down from 57.6 in October. This is the lowest reading for Nova Scotia since mid 2009 and is currently the lowest in the country.
