As CFIB’s Western Economist, Jairo helps lead the advocacy, research, and policy analysis activities in the province by complementing our members’ feedback with data-driven insights.

Jairo has previously worked for the government of Colombia on policy issues related to local economic development and competitiveness. He specializes in energy policy, with a focus on carbon pricing and energy markets, with previous work experience as an energy policy analyst for the Fraser Institute where he published several policy studies and op-eds in major Canadian newspapers.

Jairo holds a Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Colombia and a Master Degree in Public Policy from the University of Calgary.
